Dollar and Sense: Earnings Analysis on VFC, AMZN, POT, DPS, CAT, PNRA, BIDU, AAPL, NFLX
Its earnings season! The market is ready to get a large slate of important earnings reports over next couple week, and we are excited to see what they hold in store for us. To prepare, we spent some time this week looking at several historical movements for companies reporting next week. By looking at these movements, we can try to craft some different earnings trades that take advantage of large swings and/or underanticioation of large swings that should be expected. We investigated the two weekly earnings movement of VF Corp. (VFC), Amazon.com (AMZN), Potash (POT), Dr. Pepper Snapple (DPS), Caterpillar (CAT), Panera Bread (PNRA), Baidu (BIDU), Apple (AAPL), Netflix (NFLX). With each company, we look at its avg. gains for the week of earnings, max highs, max lows, and amount of times up versus down. Below we have listed our findings as well as trading ideas for these companies.

Dollar and Sense: Historical Earnings Moves for Companies Reporting This Week, How To Play Them?
Its earnings season! The market is ready to get a large slate of important earnings reports this week, and we are excited to see what they hold in store for us. Dollar and Sense: March Update on Goldman Sachs Upgrade/Downgrade Study
We continued our analysis of Goldman Sachs' upgrades and downgrades with a look at March upgrades and downgrades done by the company. We are looking to see if there is any consistency we can trade off of based on upgrades and downgrades that Goldman Sachs does. What we are trying to discover is if a certain set of upgrades and downgrades have very lasting impacts on the market. What we did was investigated day over day, week over week, and two-week trends for each section of upgrades. We looked at Buy to Conviction Buy (B to CB), Buy to Neutral (B to N), Conviction Buy to Buy (CB to B), Neutral to Buy (N to B), Neutral to Conviction Buy (N to CB), Neutral to Conviction Sell (N to CS), Neutral to Sell (N to S), Sell to Buy (S to B), Sell to Neutral (S to N).

Dollar and Sense: How Do These Early Earning Season Companies Fair in Early April
Today, we took a look at several companies and how they move into earnings. These companies are all early earnings season reporters and big names in the industry. We wanted to look how some of these companies move into earnings. The companies we investigated are Citigroup (C), Coca-Cola (KO), Goldman Sachs (GS), Harley-Davidson (HOG), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), IBM (IBM), and Intel (INTC). We wanted to see if we could find any interesting patterns or companies that can perform exceptionally into earnings. Dollar and Sense: Oil’s Strength in April, Which Companies Perform the Best
Oil performs strongly in April, which makes sense as the seasonality suggests higher demand as more people use oil for air conditioning. Additionally, driving is more popular in the Spring as people travel and use gasoline more. Overall, oil has shown great strength in the month of April.
